Grey Alien Portrait

This is a photoshop colourisation of a pen & ink drawing I did a couple of years ago of your typical cliche'd 'grey alien'.
I tried to get a subtle irridescent effect n the skin. The background is simple because I couldn't think of anything more complicated that would work too well.
About eight or nine years ago I had a dream and when I woke up I remembered this 'scene' more vividly than the rest. I don't know 'what' the dream meant. All I remember was that the clowns in strange jet-powered-retro planes were harrasing the two frogs who were pulling the snail (?!).
The next day I sketched this scene out and since the year 2000 it remained as a pencil sketch.
Then just before Chrstmas 2007, I embarked on colourising the sketch in Photoshop. I'm still very much in the early stages of getting my colourisation process clear in my head so this piece was a good learning exercise for me.

This Alien image is a colouration of a pencil image I finished a few months ago. Most of the colour is flat coloured photoshop layers set to 'multiply'. The highlights are the only opaque bits of brushwork.
This is the first attempt at 'colouring' one of my pencil images that I've been happy with the result. I'm very enthusiastic about treating some of my other pencil images in a similar way.

I created the lighting for this before I knew how to light efficiently (and before I got taught the 'spinning light trick'), so I would save a lot of render time if I were to do it again =]-
